CARMA is a Swiss research project that aims to explore the potential and feasibility of Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS) systems deployment in Switzerland, within the framework of future energy scenarios. Moreover, it aims to exploit available expertise to develop new CCS technologies and know-how that might be applied in Switzerland and worldwide.

The project approaches CCS technologies from multiple perspectives: research will focus on the technical, environmental, economical, societal and legal issues related to them.

CARMA is carried out by a team of scientists from ETH Zurich, EPF Lausanne, Paul Scherrer Institut, University of Bern, Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz and GeoForm.

CARMA is funded by CCEM and CCES of the ETH Domain and by public and privateĀ organizations.

The project has started in Januar 2009 and will last until December 2012.
